Calendula Herbal Garden
...where the healing power of nature and human connection meet
About me

Kind hearts are the gardens
Kind hearts are the gardens,
Kind thoughts are the roots,
Kind words are the flowers,
Kind deeds are the fruits.
Take care of your gadren,
And keep out the weeds,
Fill it with sunshine;
Kind words and kind deeds.
- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I am Hajnal Fekete, phytotherapist and art therapist.
My goal is to show a more health-conscious path with the help of herbs, in collaboration with those who come to me to ask advices. The development of many diseases can be prevented by using the right herbs and with small lifestyle steps, and I can help with this with the Holistic Therapeutic Recommendation. I remember the afternoons spent in my great-grandfather's house among my earliest family memories. Sometimes the small kitchen would be filled with the smell of homemade honey and ginger cakes, other times, he would dry rose hips - (Rosa canina), carefully removing all the seeds. There were always some kind of herb drying in his pantry: elderberry flowers (Sambucus nigra) for colds, a bouquet of dried tansies (Tanacetum vulgare) for the wardrobe against moths, marigolds (Calendula officinalis) from his garden. From him I learned the difference between dog chamomile and medicinal chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla). He was a passionate beekeeper and used bee stings to cure his rheumatic neighbours. He gardened, walked, cycled; and swam in Lake Balaton. His life served as a model for the whole family and still has the greatest influence on me. Naturopathy found me after many twists and turns, but I feel it was not accidental.
I am also passionate about nature, collecting herbs for home use, and constantly experimenting with recipes. At first, I made teas, ointments, creams, and other home remedies just for myself, but then my family and friends started asking me for advice, and that's when I felt like I wanted to use my phytotherapy knowledge more widely. Vegan nutrition also entered my life at a point when my body weakened during a prolonged period of stress. From that point on, I began to consciously pay attention to a cleaner, plant-based diet, including healing foods, the intake of which is at least as important as the use of herbs. In addition, I believe that regular exercise is an important part of overall physical and mental health, and for me, these are hatha yoga and qigong.
What is phytotherapy? Phytotherapy (herbal therapy) is one of the oldest methods, which was chosen by the ancients, even before modern medicine was developed. Prevention is as important part of this branch of natural medicine as alleviating or eliminating existing symptoms. A specialist who treats with phytotherapy is called a phytotherapist. Modern phytotherapy uses other natural ingredients in addition to herbs, such as honey, beeswax, essential oils, spices and food plants, healing juices, etc. The person visiting a phytotherapist is recommended to actively participate in the healing process, so the phytotherapist works with him to show the path to healing, gently guiding him.
Healing with herbs is based on the knowledge of ancient civilizations, thousands of years of tradition, and the results of the most modern research. As a therapeutic trend, it is currently present as a common area of traditional medicine (medical medicine) and naturopathy, and is part of natural medicine. In many cases, it is better to try gentler, natural methods first before resorting to medication, because a well-chosen herb/mixture can be just as effective as a pill from the pharmacy, but without the unpleasant side effects. Let's embark on a more natural path together with the help of herbs for a healthier, more complete life!
