Home practices - sunburn

The first rays of the summer that suddenly greet us, often hit our skin unprepared. Even 20 minutes of direct sunlight can cause sunburn. More serious cases, of course, require immediate medical attention. But if redness and unpleasant itching occur, we can use the remedies in our home medicine cabinet and kitchen garden plants.
Below I have compiled a list of things you can do to help yourself and your family members, in case the problem has already occurred:
- St. John's wort oil (Hypericum perforatum) relieves redness and reduces pain and inflammation, and promotes faster healing.
- When using aloe vera (Aloe vera), always apply fresh gel to the red skin area, because the cut leaf oxidizes quickly, reducing its healing properties. Apply it several times a day
- lavender oil (100% quality) – not only for sunburn, but also for any minor burn. (It is worth keeping a small bottle in the kitchen)
- honey (wild flower honey in this case) – folk medicine has been using it for disinfection for centuries; it heals with the power of its inherent herbs
- marigold (Calendula officinalis) is also a healing plant for wound healing, reddened skin, and diaper rash. Its active ingredients extracted in oil combined with chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) also effectively treat sunburn.
I will be coming soon with the recipe for St. John's wort medicinal oil!
